Leander, Texas · Since 2021

We clear Central Texas land and leave it ready to use.

Forestry mulching, land clearing, dirt work, driveway construction, shredding and 30-yard roll-off dumpsters across Central Texas.

Big or small, we’ve got you covered.

HB Land Services was started in 2021. When ranchers and property owners call about forty acres of cedar, or a builder needs a pad cut and a tank dug, they get the owner on the phone and the same crew on the ground every day until the job is done.

The owner meets with you, walks the property and works out the best way to attack the project. Big or small, that walkthrough comes first, so the plan you hear on day one is the plan the crew works to.

We work across a hundred-mile radius of Leander — Williamson, Travis, Burnet, Bell, Hays, Blanco, Llano, Lampasas, Bastrop and Caldwell counties, and most of the Hill Country in between. Veterans and first responders get a discount, no paperwork required.

The ground changes a lot across that radius. West of Leander you are into Hill Country limestone, thin soil and cedar that comes back the moment you stop watching it. East and south it turns to deeper clay that holds water and moves with the season. The same job costs different time and takes different equipment depending on which side of that line you are on, and quoting it without looking is how people end up surprised.

“[The HB Land Services team] did a phenomenal job at our property and were very easy to work with and communicated very well.”

01 — Forestry Mulching

Forestry Mulching

One machine takes the cedar, brush and scrub down to a mulch bed and leaves it on the ground as cover. No burn piles, no hauling, no bare dirt washing off in the next storm. We work around the trees you want to keep — mark them and they stay.

Mulching suits cedar breaks, understory brush, old fence lines and overgrown pasture — the stuff that has crept in over ten or fifteen years of nobody touching it. Because the material stays on the ground, you are not paying to haul anything off and you are not left with bare dirt that washes to the bottom of the property in the first big rain. The chip layer holds moisture, knocks back regrowth for a while and breaks down into the soil.

How fast it goes depends on stem size and how thick it is standing. Light brush moves quickly. A solid cedar thicket with trunks at six or eight inches is slower, and we will tell you that up front rather than find out halfway through.

02 — Land Clearing

Land Clearing

Full clearing for pasture, pivot, building sites, fence lines and roads. We take it down, deal with the stumps and the debris, and hand back ground you can actually put to work. Acreage jobs are what we are built for.

Most clearing jobs around here start the same way: the owner wants a building site, a bigger pasture, a road in, or a fence line they can actually see down. We cut it, deal with the stumps, and clean up the debris so you are not left with a problem where the brush used to be.

If part of the tract only needs thinning and part needs to go to dirt, we will split the work — mulch where mulching makes sense and clear where you need bare ground. Paying to fully clear acreage that only needed a mulcher is money nobody should spend.

03 — Dirt Work & Excavation

Dirt Work and Excavation

Stock tanks, ponds, building pads, drainage and grading. We cut it to the contour you need and leave it draining the right direction. If water has been sitting somewhere it shouldn’t, that is a fixable problem.

Central Texas ground is not forgiving. Thin soil over limestone in the Hill Country, heavy clay that moves on you out east. Pads get built, driveways get cut and tanks get dug with that in mind, because water that is routed wrong the first time becomes somebody’s foundation problem later.

We dig and clean out stock tanks, cut and shape building pads, put in driveways and culverts, grade for drainage, and reshape ground that has been eroding. If you are not sure what a piece of ground needs, the owner will walk it with you and say so plainly.

04 — Shredding

Shredding

For land that is not grown up enough to need mulching but is well past mowing. We shred pastures, trails, fence lines and right-of-way back down to something manageable, and we will keep it that way on a schedule if you want it.

Shredding is the maintenance side of this work. A pasture that gets shredded once or twice a year never becomes a mulching job, and a mulching job that gets shredded afterward never grows back into what it was. Ranchers on a cycle with us spend a fraction of what the first clearing cost.

05 — Dumpster Rental

Dumpster Rental

We rent one size: a 30-yard roll-off, dropped where you need it for cleanouts, remodels, builds and demo. Call for current availability. We deliver around Leander and out through the surrounding counties.

Having our own containers means the clearing side and the cleanup side do not have to be two different phone calls on two different schedules. If a job generates debris that needs to leave the property, we can set a container on site and handle it ourselves.

06 — Driveway Construction

Driveway Construction

A driveway is dirt work before it is anything else. We lay out the route, cut and grade it, and build it up so it sheds water off the sides instead of channeling it down the middle. Where it crosses a low spot or a drainage, a culvert goes in, sized for what actually comes through there after a hard rain.

Most of the drives we build run a long way from the gate to the house or the barn, across ground that changes along the way. If you are clearing a tract for a build, the road in usually comes first, and we can clear the route and build the drive as one job.

Questions we get

If yours is not here, call and ask. We’ll get you an answer.

Call (512) 673-3439

How much land can you handle?

Big or small, we’ve got you covered. A small lot, a few acres, a few hundred acres or a commercial site: call with what you have, and the owner will come walk it with you and work out the best way to attack it.

What is the difference between forestry mulching and land clearing?

Mulching grinds the standing brush and smaller trees in place and leaves the material on the ground as a mulch layer. Clearing takes everything off, stumps included, and leaves you bare workable ground. Mulching is faster and cheaper and better for erosion. Clearing is what you want when something is getting built on it.

Do you leave the mature trees?

Yes, if you want them. Walk the property with us or flag what stays before we start. A mulching head is precise enough to work right up around a tree without touching it, which is most of the reason owners choose it over a dozer.

How far from Leander will you travel?

About a hundred miles out, which covers Williamson, Travis, Burnet, Bell, Hays, Blanco, Llano, Lampasas, Bastrop and Caldwell counties plus a good deal of the Hill Country and Blackland in between. If you are sitting near the edge of that, just ask.

Do you offer a discount for veterans and first responders?

We do, on every job, and there is no paperwork to fill out. Mention it when you call and it is applied.

What do you need from me to quote the work?

The acreage, a rough idea of what is growing on it, and what you want it to look like when we leave. Photos or a dropped pin help. The owner will come walk it with you before anything is scheduled.

What size dumpsters do you rent?

One size: a 30-yard roll-off. It gets dropped where you need it for a cleanout, remodel, build or demo. Tell us where you want it placed and we will say whether the truck can get it there.

Tell us about the property

Acreage, what is on it and what you want it to look like when we are done. We will tell you straight what it takes.
